Jack and the beanstalk comes to life in the nursery!, by Mrs Smith

Date: 12th May 2016 @ 3:41pm

We have been reading the story of Jack and the beanstalk, Mrs Hall went to the magic woods to find the man with magic beans, luckily she found him and so our story begins..........

Mrs Hall gave Miss O'Brien the 'magic beans' and asked her what she wanted to do with them, she asked the children and they all said throw them through the window, which Mrs Hall did. The next day we opened the window to find a beanstalk had grown!!!! That night Miss O'Brien and Mrs Smith climbed the beanstalk. When the children came into school the following day, they couldn't find Miss O'Brien or Mrs Smith, Mrs Hall took all of the children into her room to ask if anybody knew where they were. Whilst everybody was in Mrs Hall's room they heard a HUGE bang!! It was Miss O'Brien and Mrs Smith chopping the beanstalk down - they'd been up there all night looking for the golden eggs (which the children believed!) When they ran into Mrs Hall's room they had the golden eggs, but they were filthy, they told the children about all they saw whilst at the top of the beanstalk, the children asked lots of questions and we had a great discussion about it all.

Mrs Hall said she thought it was wrong of them to take the eggs, and asked the children if they thought we should give them back.

The next day Mrs Peel came to say she'd had a special delivery, it was a HUGE letter off the giant asking for his eggs back!! The children were astonished and amazed by this letter.

We then wrote a sorry letter and wrapped the eggs up in a box to send back to the giant, Miss O'Brien and Mrs Smith promised never to go up a beanstalk again.

The children have taken part in role play activities, discussions and have written their own sorry letters too and the story continues ............
