Air raid shelters

Lesson: Topic

Class: Miss Ganley - 6G Year: 2017 - 2018

As part of our World War 2 topic, the children experienced life in an air raid shelter. The children took cover under tables and in a small, confined space to imagine what life was like living in an air raid shelter. The children listened to an air raid siren and Winston Churchill’s speech to gain a better understanding what life was like for people during the war. From this experience, the children wrote a diary entry imagining their first day in an air raid shelter. Finally, the children tea stained their writing to add authenticity to their work.
