Which material is the strongest to build a house?, by Miss White

Date: 30th Mar 2017 @ 10:46pm

Our Science topic this half term has been 'materials. The children have shown a great understanding of the different properties of materials and why they are suitable for different objects.

After reading the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' the children took part in an experient to see which material would make the best house for the pigs. The children split into groups and made houses from paper, wooden sticks, sticks, tinfoil and lego. The children worked wonderfully in their teams to create their houses. It was a shame we had to destroy them in the testing of our experient.

I will let the children explain the results of the experiment to you....

Forest school - day 4, by Miss Dobie

Date: 30th Mar 2017 @ 9:42pm

This week, the children worked with a range of tools to create their own tree cookie. First, the children learnt how to use a bow saw to cut a section from a tree branch. Next, the children used a hand drill to drill a hole into the tree cookie and threaded string through the hole to create a necklace. The children were able to decorate their tree cookie and tie the string using the knots the children have learnt in previous weeks.

The children also created bird feeders and scattered them around the forest. We can't wait to visit the forest next week to see if the birds have had a feast.
